Metformin is a medication that belongs to the class of biguanides, which works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and increasing insulin sensitivity in the body. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea medication, which stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin.

The combination of these two medications helps to lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes, particularly in those who are unable to control their blood sugar levels with metformin alone or with glimepiride alone.
